DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis men's tennis team opened the week with a 5-2 victory over Idaho State, Monday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

The Aggies battled to win the doubles point and then carried the momentum in singles as UC Davis won at the 1-4 positions to secure the victory.

The Bengals evened the score with the first victory at singles, but the Aggies then won at No. 2 and No. 4 to retake the lead. After Idaho State won their second point, UC Davis closed out the match with wins at No. 1 and No.3.

Freshman Ryan Torres continued his winning ways at No. 2, downing Aleksandar Petrovic in straight sets for his 12^th straight victory. Junior Andrei Volgin bounced back with a huge win at No. 1, downing Patrik Trhac, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. Newcomer Ryan Morgan won in thrilling fashion at No. 3, 6-4, 4-6, 17-15, while junior Andras Necz won in straight sets at the No. 4 position.

The Aggies now head to Hawai'i to open Big West competition on Friday, March, 25.
