Davis, Calif. -
Ezra Manjon has won his second Big West Conference Player of the Week award of the season after the conference announced last week's winners on Monday afternoon.
Manjon led UC Davis to wins over UC Riverside and Hawai'i last week to get the Aggies (10-7, 3-3) to 3-3 in the Big West. Manjon won previously on Dec. 20, 2021 and is the fourth Big West player to win multiple Player of the Week honors this season.
Manjon had 19 points, five assists, three rebounds, one block and one assist against the Highlanders on Feb. 1. He had seven points during an 18-6 stretch that put the Aggies up by 16 and closed the game scoring UC Davis' last four points on free throws to secure the win.
The sophomore from Antioch was electric against Hawai'i on Feb. 5, putting in 20 points with five rebounds and two assists. He had four points and an assist during UC Davis' game-changing 17-5 run with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game and again hit shots down the stretch, including four of the Aggies' final six points. It was his fifth 20-point game of the season and 53rd career game with double-figures.
Manjon is averaging just under his career-high in points per game and is on track to shatter his previous career best for steals in a season of 24 with 20 already this season. He also needs just 71 more points to reach 1,000 in his career. He would become one of just five Aggies to reach 1,000 points in their first three seasons if he hits that mark this season.
Winners of their last two, the Aggies play at UC San Diego on Thursday and at UC Irvine on Saturday before returning to Davis for a four-game home stand to close out the month of February.
