Turner's game-high 16 leads Aggies in Honolulu

Stobbart grabs 14 rebounds, Hall adds 10 more caroms at Hawai'i

HONOLULU, Hawai'i -- Sophomore Evanne Turner finished with a team-high 16 points, while Sage Stobbart and Cierra Hall each grabbed double-digit rebounds, but host Hawai'i caught fire over the final 15 minutes of regulation to erase a 13-point deficit and rally for a 57-50 victory over UC Davis on Thursday night in Honolulu.

The Aggies fell to 9-9 overall and 3-5 in Big West play with the defeat, while the Rainbow Wahine improved to 9-8 overall and 5-2 in league play.

Stobbart led the Aggies with 14 rebounds to go with six points and two blocks, while Hall grabbed 10 rebounds to go with seven points and three steals. UC Davis held a 47-35 advantage on the glass -- including a 14-7 lead on the offensive end. Turner's 16 points marked her sixth consecutive double-digit scoring performance, adding six rebounds and a pair of assists.

UC Davis' defense held Hawaii to only 32 percent shooting from the field, but the Aggies' offense could not find a rhythm, shooting just 28 percent for the game.

Home awaits UC Davis next week, hosting UC San Diego (Feb. 10) and UC Irvine (Feb. 12) at the University Credit Union Center.

How It Happened

UC Davis started out the scoring by going on an 8-0 run to take an early lead with 7:11 left in the first quarter. The Aggies then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 17-13 advantage. UC Davis relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down three shots to account for nine of its 17 points.

UC Davis kept its first quarter lead intact before going on a 5-0 run starting at the 2:36 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Kayla Konrad, to increase its lead to 31-23. The Rainbow Warriors cut into that lead, but the Aggies still enjoyed a 31-24 advantage heading into halftime. UC Davis was strong from deep in the period, knocking down two three-point shots to account for six of its 14 points.

UC Davis wasted no time building on its lead, going on a 6-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Sydney Burns, to expand its lead further to 37-24 with 7:18 to go in the third. Before the conclusion of the third period, the Rainbow Warriors had cut into that lead somewhat, but the Aggies still entered the fourth quarter with a 41-37 edge. UC Davis scored three fast break points in the quarter.

Hawaii then erased the UC Davis lead in the game's final quarter for a 57-50 comeback victory. UC Davis took advantage of five Hawaii turnovers in the quarter, scoring four points off of those takeaways.
