DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis gymnastics team recorded its third straight score above 195 to down Causeway rival Sacramento State for the third time this season, 195.625 – 195.000, Friday evening at the Hornets Nest.
The Aggies swept the vault as freshman
Emily Pires led the way with a career-best 9.875. Freshman
Megan Ray closely followed at 9.825, while senior
Kyla Kessler posted a 9.825.
UC Davis recorded a season-best 48.875 on the bars as freshman
Ava Scafani and junior
Thea Michovsky tied for second in the event with team season-high scores of 9.850.
The Aggies claimed the top four spots on the beam as junior
Rachel Schuelke posted a career-best score of 9.875. Sophomores
Emma Otsu and
Kaitlyn Lyle landed identical 9.850s and were followed by a 9.825 by Scafani.
Kessler and Ray both tallied 9.90 scores on the floor to take top honors in the competition. Freshman
Bella Trejo finished in third with a 9.850.
UC Davis will return home for a quad meet against Air Force, Alaska Anchorage and Texas Women's University on Sunday, Feb. 20.
