Aggies downed by Tigers, 74-72

Davis, Calif. — Playing in front of its home-crowd for the first time since Nov. 18, the UC Davis Men's Basketball team suffered a 74-72 defeat at the hands of the visiting Pacific Tigers.

Bringing a two game win streak to an end, the Aggies were unable to close it down the stretch. An eight point lead from Pacific late in the second half proved to be much of a deficit for the Ags to overcome.

UC Davis was paced by Elijah Pepper who had a team-high 19 points on 5-12 shooting. Robby Beasley III also had his Davis career-high, 16 points on 6-10 shooting. Pepper also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds. Ty Johnson was the third and final double digit scorer for the Aggies after scoring 16 points on 5-13 shooting and leading UC Davis in assists with four. A highlight filled defensive night from Christian Anigwe saw him record a career-high five blocks. After recording his previous career-high of four just last game against Boston, Anigwe followed it up with another strong showing tonight against UOP. He also added six points, and six rebounds.

UC Davis as a team shot 42.9% from the field and 31% from three point land. On the night, both teams hauled in 40 rebounds.

UC Davis was in a battle the entire night with seven lead changes taking place. Limiting the Tigers to just 38% from the field, UOP found a majority of their success from beyond the arc, and from the free throw line. Going 9-24 from three, the Tigers were also 81% from the line hitting 13-16. Leading scorer for UOP was Keylan Boone who scored 17 points in just 18 minutes after fouling out. The Tigers Jordan Ivy-Curry had a Tiger team-high nine rebounds and two other Tigers chipped in with double digits.
