SERIES HISTORY
UC Davis will be facing Cal Maritime for the second time in program history. The only meeting took place in 2015 when the Aggies downed the Keelhaulers, 78-41. UCD finished with a Division I program-best 25-7 record in that 2014-15 season, falling in the first round of the NIT.
HOME OPENERS
The Aggies have won their last three home openers, outscoring the opposition, 288-201. Last year's first contest at the UCU Center, UCD defeated Eastern Washington, 84-76. Three Aggies finished with 15 or more points in the victory as
Christian Anigwe dropped in a game-high 19 and recorded 12 rebounds with three blocks.
100 YEARS IN THE MAKING
In the season opener at Cal on Monday, UC Davis downed its counterpart to the west, 75-65. The win was the first for the Aggies over the Golden Bears in program history. Three Aggies recorded double-digits in scoring as
Christian Anigwe led the charge with a career-high 21 points. Newcomer
Ty Johnson tallied 17 points and pulled down eight boards. The two UC schools first met in the 1917-18 season, as Cal boasted a 33-0 record against the Ags. The victory marked the second straight season UCD had taken down a Pac-12 foe, defeating Oregon State last season, 71-64.
CAL MARITIME OUTLOOK
CSUM enters Davis 0-3 on the season, falling in its last contest, 79-73, against Westmont. Last season, the Keelhaulers advanced to the semifinal round of the Cal Pac Conference Men's Basketball Championship and finished with a 13-9 record. Cal Maritime returns head coach Tim Bross (13-13) and seniors Braxton Adderly, Miles Pennington and junior Divine Nwoko.
