Aggies Hold Off Terriers Late For 81-70 OT Win and Get Second Straight Victory

Milwaukee, Wisc. — At the last day of the Cream City Classic hosted by Milwaukee, UC Davis defeated Boston University by a score of 81-70. After a dominating for majority of the game with a lead stretching out all the way to 29 points at one point, Boston University would not go down without a fight as they clawed their way back to send this battle into overtime. Weathering the storm, UC Davis would finish the overtime period on a 15-2 run to put away the Terriers.

The Ags move to 6-2 on the year with the win. This is the best winning percentage (.750) in the month of November for UC Davis Men's Basketball since the 2014-15 season, a year that saw the Aggies go a perfect 5-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Ty Johnson asserted himself yet again by leading the way for the Aggies with 27 points on 6-11 shooting from the field and a team high 14 free-throw makes. He collected six rebounds, and had two of the teams, nine steals.
  • Robby Beasley III recorded his first ever double-double in a Davis uniform. Tying his career-high scoring output during his time as an Aggie with 15 points on 5-8 shooting, Beasley III also tied with Elijah Pepper for a team-high 10 rebounds.
  • Ade Adebayo reached double-digits with 10 points on 3-6 FG. After not having eclipsed the double-figure scoring mark the once during past three years, Adebayo came up in back to back games with major buckets for UC Davis.
  • Four Aggies scored 10 or more points with senior Christian Anigwe rounding out the cast. Fouling out in the second half, Anigwe made his interior presence known with four blocks in just 25 minutes to go along with his 10 points.
  • UC Davis shot 40.4% from the field. After coming into the tournament as one of the most efficient three-point shooting teams in the nation, the Aggies were tasked with finding other ways to generate buckets after struggling from behind the arc against Boston.
  • Jonas Harper for Boston scored a team-high 21 points while Walter Whyte pulled down eight rebounds for the Terriers.
  • UC Davis leaned on their defense and rebounding as they held Boston to just 36.4% from the field and won the rebound battle 51-36.
  • Pace, again, played a factor for Jim Les and his squad with UC Davis getting out in transition for 23 fast break points and limiting the Terriers to just 11 of their own.
