Fort Worth, TX. — The No. 9 ranked UC Davis Equestrian Team clashed against the No. 2 ranked TCU Horned Frogs and dropped the first meet of the weekend 15-5. In the first road meet of the season for the Aggies, the hosting Horned Frogs proved to be worthy of their ranking and took advantage of their home arena as TCU swept each event on the day.
In a meet that had to be halted for about an hour due to the rain in Texas, a few Aggies shined on the day, most notably, Jessie Rechs, Sierra Gundersen, Marin Gilliland, Kendal Scheiner, and Lauren Langbaum who all earned points for UC Davis during the rainy meet.
Even in defeat the Aggies can take many positives out of the event with such a highly talented TCU team as UC Davis won the point totals throughout the meet due to a no-score from a TCU rider, but nonetheless it seemed to show that even with the point discrepancy, UC Davis was in the hunt to compete the entire day.
The Ags will continue their three-meet stretch tomorrow where they will be completing the latter half of their meet that started with Delaware State in the morning, and immediately following that event, will go on to face top ranked SMU Mustangs for a full meet at the Dallas Equestrian Center in the afternoon.
