Zack Lillington's second goal of the season sent UC Davis to a 1-0 win over UC Irvine at Aggie Soccer Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Lillington initially took a pass from
Ryan Dieter and headed it off the right post but followed up his near-make on the rebound to boot in the game winner just inside the left post. He know shares the team lead in goals with fellow freshman
Cason Goodman.
Ethan Hoard, now up to 32 shots on the season, had some of UC Davis' best chances that included a sequence in the 54th minute where he shed a defender at midfield and sprinted downfield before putting a shot on the center of the net.
Charles Janssen had one save but spoiled numerous chances at the top of the penalty box and snared both UC Irvine corners for his fourth shutout of the season.
The Aggies (2-6-3, 1-1-1) picked up a valuable two points in the Big West standings and moved into fourth place with a road game against CSUN still left on Saturday this week.
