Five Aggies Secure Big West Conference Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Davis soccer team was recognized after the conclusion of regular season play with five Big West Conference accolades, including three first-team honors.

For the second straight season, Leslie Fregoso was named to the all-conference first team. The junior midfielder paced the Aggies with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Sophomore defender Jayde Holley earned first-team accolades after tallying three assists and helping the Aggies to five shutouts and a 0.94 goals-against average. Also, just a sophomore, Emma Vane was named to the first team after ranking second on the squad with nine points on three goals and three assists.

Earning honorable mention accolades was junior defender Francesca Van Norden. The Los Angeles native earned her first career honor after scoring one goal and helping the Aggies to five shutouts and a 0.94 goals-against average.

Sarah Canavan, who was just named the freshman of the week on the heels of her game-winner goal at Long Beach State was named to the Big West All-Freshman Team. Canavan was tied for third on the team with eight points on three goals and two assists.

UC Davis, who enters the Big West Champions as the No. 2 seed, will await the winner of Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine in the semifinal match. The match will be played at Cal Poly and kick off at 4 p.m.
