DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis women's volleyball team fell to Long Beach State, 3-1, Saturday night at University Credit Union Center.
The Aggies fall to 3-7 in Big West play and 8-12 overall on the season.
Freshman
Jade Light and redshirt junior
Demari Webb carried the offense with 18 kills apiece. Junior
Lana Radakovic followed behind with seven kills.
Casi Newman collected 45 set assists.
Defensively, junior
Shira Lahav paced the back row with 25 digs, followed by sophomore
Julia Ng with 12 digs.
The Aggies got off to a strong start, winning the opening set in a close fashion 25-20.
In a game that saw a series of momentum-shifting runs from both sides, it was LBSU that countered with a tight victory in set number two, 25-23.
For a pivotal third set, the Beach used a pair of runs to capitalize offensively and take the set by a score of 25-19.
The Aggies tried to respond in the fourth set, but the visiting Beach started and finished the set strong, ending on a 4-0 run to take the set and game, 25-16.
UC Davis hit .295 on the match compared to .294 for Long Beach State. Service success came to the Beach as they hoisted 12 aces and no mistakes.
The Aggies hit the road to face UC Riverside on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 7 pm PT.
