Davis, CA — The UC Davis Aggies Field Hockey Team (2-11, 1-5 AE) honored the careers of six seniors Friday night as Kalli Wagnon, Izzy Porco, Milou Korthouwer, Grace Austin, Danielle Yau, and Brooke Sanchez took part in their final game at Aggie Field Hockey Facility. The Aggies ultimately suffered a loss at the hands of the James Madison Dukes (9-6) by a score of 1-4.
The Aggies had their celebratory night spoiled by Eveline Zwager who recorded a hat trick for the Dukes and was consistently putting pressure on the Aggie defense. She put together a whopping seven shots on a night that saw James Madison attempt 29.
As for the Aggies, a night that recognized our lovely seniors, it was freshman Emilie Lee who had a game to remember. She found the back of the net and capitalized on her only shot of the game to capture her first career collegiate goal. Right at the end of the second period, she was able to battle off a flurry of JMU defenders and sneak a shot past the Dukes keeper and tuck it near the right post.
Leading goal scorer for the Aggies Brooke Sanchez also had chances to score as she recorded two shots, both being on target. Karly Redman also had a shot on goal, while Lizzy Tedrow, Zoe Mohrman, and Skylar Richards each had shot attempts. The Aggie goalkeeping duo of Wagnon and Lopez had 11 saves throughout the game as well.
UC Davis closes out their season with two games on the road when they travel to play New Hampshire on Friday, Oct. 28, and Maine on Sunday, Oct. 30.
