DAVIS, Calif. – The UC Davis women's tennis team opened their spring home slate with a 6-1 victory over Big West foe UC Irvine, Saturday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.

UC Davis raced out to an early singles lead when sophomore Carly Schwartzberg blanked Shreya Pavani, 6-0, 6-0. Junior Kristina Evloeva followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victory and then freshman Arianna Stavropoulos downed Jenna Schlatter, 6-4, 6-4.

Senior Sara Tsukamoto and junior Yana Gurevich also earned singles victories. The Aggies swept the doubles competition as sophomore Olive Maunupau and Schwartzberg set the tone with a 6-2 win to start the day.

The Aggies will return to the Marya Welch Tennis Center tomorrow as UC Davis will host Nevada at 11 a.m.
