DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis gymnastics team secured the top three spots in three of the four rotations to run away from Sacramento State, 194.075-191.450, Sunday afternoon
at the University Credit Union Center. The result marked the second straight weekend that the Aggies downed the Causeway Cup rival Hornets.
UC Davis set the tone early by taking the top three spots in the vault, posting a 48.750. Freshman
Keanna Abraham and senior
Kyla Kessler took top honors on the apparatus with a 9.80.
The Aggies separated themselves by sweeping the Hornets in the uneven bars. Four UC Davis scorers finished with scores of 9.70 or better as Kessler once again led the pack with a 9.775.
Freshman
Megan Ray cemented the meet by scoring a 9.90 on her floor exercise as the Aggies took the top four floor marks. Sophomore
Emma Otsu posted a 9.825.
Kessler won the all-around competition with a score of 39.150. The senior placed in the top-three in three of the four rotations.
UC Davis will hit the road for the next two weekends as they open their three-meet road swing at Alaska Anchorage on Friday, Jan. 21.
