Radakovic paces Aggies against Hawai’i

Aggies wrap up the opening weekend of Big West play with a split

DAVIS, Calif. — UC Davis sophomore Lana Radakovic finished with a team-high 12 kills and hit .545 on the night, but visiting Hawai'i hit .396 as a team en route to a 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-19) victory over the Aggies in Big West Conference play on Saturday night at the University Credit Union Center.

UC Davis wrapped up the opening week of league play with a 5-8 overall record and a 1-1 mark in Big West matches following its road sweep of UC Riverside on Wednesday.

The 12 kills for Radakovic marked her second double-digit kill performance of the year and the most since she logged a career-high 13 kills in a four-set win over California back on Sept. 16.

The San Francisco native did not commit an error in 22 swings on Saturday night and marked the third time this year that she has gone errorless in a match with a minimum of 10 attempts, joining her .600 (6-0-10) hitting performance at Sacramento State in the season opener and her game against the Golden Bears when she finished 13-0-31 en route to a .419 hitting percentage.

Freshman Amara Aimufua finished with eight kills and six digs on the night, while freshman Julia Ng chipped in a team-high nine digs.

Three Hawai'i regulars hit better than .400 for the match, led by Brooke Van Sickle's 14 kills and .609 hitting percentage. She also added 11 digs to share team-high honors. Amber Igiede also added 11 kills and hit .529 for the match.

UC Davis continues league play with its first Big West road trip of the year, heading to UC Irvine on Friday (Oct. 1) for a 7 p.m. first serve at the Bren Events Center, before traveling to UC San Diego on Saturday (Oct. 2) at 7 p.m.
