IRVINE, Calif. – Andrei Volgin and Chethan Swanson needed all three sets in their respective singles matches to determine the final outcome, but host UC Irvine won the doubles point and swept the singles round to defeat UC Davis, 7-0, in Saturday's Big West Conference dual at Anteater Tennis Courts.

Even though the Aggies fell to 8-10 overall and 2-4 against Big West teams with this result, they will still enter next week's league playoffs with momentum since they ended the season with wins in two of their last three matches.

Since the Big West will not announce pairings for its Men's Tennis Championship until after all league duals are completed this weekend, UC Davis' upcoming opponent is still unknown. However, the Aggies know they will visit Irvine once again next week since the conference's year-end event will take place at Irvine Great Park.

The tournament's opening round will take place on Friday, April 30, with a pair of 12 p.m. matches that feature the No. 3 seed vs. the No. 6 seed and the No. 4 seed against the No. 5 seed.
