Madison Wood’s low round leads Aggies at Meadow Club

Senior fires an even-par 72 to finish just outside the top 25 on Tuesday at the Meadow Club.

FAIRFAX, Calif. — UC Davis senior Madison Wood carded the Aggies' low round of the day with an even-par 72, finishing tied for 26th alongside sophomore teammate Jackie Lucena and three other players on Tuesday afternoon, wrapping up play at the 2021 Juli Inkster at Meadow Club Invitational in Fairfax, Calif.

Madison Wood's 72 was her lowest round of the two-day event, finishing Tuesday at 1-under on the back nine, before posting a birdie on No. 9 to offset a par of bogeys in between. Lucena, who entered the day in a tie for 34th, also posted her best round of the tournament with a 2-over 74 on Tuesday, improving in each round of the event.

Senior Hannah Sun finished in a tie for 51st, followed closely by junior Andrea Gomez Lloret in a tie for 53rd and senior Skyler Wood in a tie for 58th.

UC Davis finished 12th as a team, two shots shy of Pepperdine in the final standings. Washington won the team title with a 12-over 876, winning the event by six strokes over second place Stanford. The Huskies' Rino Sasaki took home individual medalist honors, finishing with an even-par 216 to take the top spot by one shot over San Jose State's Antonia Malate.

A recent addition to the field, the Aggies head to the islands for their next event, participating in the three-day Anuenue Spring Break Invitational on March 22-24 at the Waikoloa Beach Resort Kings' Course in Waikoloa, Hawai'i.
