Rodrigues named to Big Sky Football Community Service Team

DAVIS, Calif. -- Junior quarterback Hunter Rodrigues was named to the 2021 Big Sky Football Community Service Team the conference announced on Monday.

The team, which is in its third year of existence, recognizes football student-athletes who have dedicated their time to helping others and have gone above and beyond in making an impact on their campus and community. The Community Service Team is made up of one individual football player from each of the league's 13 competing institutions. Award winners were nominated by their respective head coaches.

Rodrigues was also named to the American Football Coaches of America Good Works Team earlier this season.

Rodrigues, a human development major from nearby Rocklin, led a crew of his Aggie teammates to volunteer at "Shining Stars," a prom for teens and young adults with special needs. He also volunteers with the Greater Sacramento Capernaum chapter of Young Life, a non-profit organization that serves individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, or IDD.

His work through Capernaum, Rodrigues said in September, is the true reward for his volunteer service. "I don't know how to explain it, but it has created friendships and memories that will last forever. I'm thankful for all of the wonderful people who I've met along the way as part of Capernaum. All of the activities we've done, being around them and experiencing what they have to offer – that brings more than any award could ever bring."
