Dover, Del. - Competing against South Dakota State and Delaware State in Dover on Friday and Saturday, UC Davis put the finishing touches on a win over SDSU but fell to host Delaware State on Saturday.
The Aggies' 13-6 win over South Dakota State was their highest margin of victory all season, while the 8-11 loss to Delaware State was their third of the season.
Against South Dakota State, the Aggies took three MOPs behind
Keely Laughlin's 83-68 fences win,
Maddie Gregory's 73-0 horsemanship win, and Lauren Langbuam's 69.5-0 win in reining.
UC Davis had three fences wins with scores over 80 from
Sierra Gundersen (81),
Carly Sweeney (80) and Laughlin. The Aggies went on to sweep horsemanship behind Gregory,
Kayla Hickey (72),
Sarah Finkel (71),
Natasha Replogle (70.5), and
Malena Palmer (71.5).
Against Delaware State, the Aggies got event wins in fences from
Kayla Wolfe and
Tasia Anstead and flat wins from Sweeney, Gundersen, and Anstead. Finkel went 2-0 over the two-day competition with a 73.5-70.5 horsemanship win.
Macey Newkirk and
Lauren Langbaum rounded out the Aggies' scoresheet against the Hornets.
With the first half of their 2021-22 schedule wrapped, the Aggies won't compete again until a two-day competition against Oklahoma State and UT Martin in Martin, Tennessee.
