Golden Horseshoe stays in Davis as Aggies win in San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - The Golden Horseshoe is staying in Davis.

Ulonzo Gilliam Jr. had his 21st career 100 yard rushing game, Miles Hastings completed 20 of his first 21 passes and Jaylin White added to the Aggies' FCS-leading interception total as UC Davis (7-1, 4-1) pulled away from Cal Poly 24-13 in San Luis Obispo on Saturday night.

After throwing incomplete on his third pass of the night Hastings completed his next 20 straight passes, ultimately starting the night 22-23 and finishing 28-34 for a career-high 210 yards, two touchdowns and one interception.

The Aggies struck first on a 17 play, 7:14 long drive that ended with a 34-yard Isaiah Gomez field goal with 12:40 left in the second quarter.
Cal Poly responded with a scoring drive of their own with 1:40 left in the half for a 10-3 lead but it was short lived.

Starting from his own 25-yard line, Hastings went 8-8 on the Aggies' ensuing drive and capped it with a nine-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Hutton and a 10-7 lead UC Davis would not relinquish.

Gilliam Jr. scored from 30 yards out with 14:16 left in the third quarter to make it a 17-7 game. The Mustangs pulled as close as 17-13 on a pair of field goals in the third quarter but a late drive that saw UC Davis rush for 65 yards and punctuated by a touchdown pass from Hastings to Carson Crawford from one yard out was all the breathing room the Aggies needed.

With three receptions for 48 yards on Saturday, senior Jared Harrell went over 2,000 career receiving yards, just the ninth Aggie to ever do so.

White's fourth quarter interception with two seconds remaining also added to the Aggies' FCS-leading interception total, giving them 13 on the season.

Winners of back-to-back games, the Aggies have a bye next weekend before hitting the road agin to face Northern Arizona on Nov. 6.
