Moraga, Calif. - The freshman doubles duo of
Ryan Torres and
Ryan Morgan led a strong Aggie showing at the ITA Northwest Regional on Sunday, capping a successful run at the tournament by advancing to the final of the open doubles draw.
After winning their semifinal match 6-4, 1-6 (10-8), Torres and Morgan eventually fell to Stanford's Aryan Chaudhary and Tomas Kopcyznski 6-2, 6-2.
Torres and Morgan defeated teams from Santa Clara, Sacramento State, and St. Mary's on their way to the semi-final before defeating Sac State's Mark Keki and Ori Maior 6-4, 1-6 (10-8).
The Aggies were a frequent sighting throughout the doubles draw though as
Andras Necz and
Brett Brinkman teamed to advance to the quarterfinals before falling to eventual champions Chaudhary and Kopcyznski while
Mitchell Davis and
Andrei Volgin also advanced to the quarterfinals before falling to Phuc Huynh and Nitzan Ricklis of San Francisco.
The two will play next at the ITA Northwest Super Regional in Seattle starting Oct. 21.
