NEWS & NOTABLES: It's a busy week for the Aggies, who travel to conference rivals Santa Clara and Fresno Pacific before taking on national power Stanford in a three-match week. The offense got the UC Davis men's water polo team off to an unbeaten start in Western Water Polo Association play last week, powering the Aggies to a 17-9 victory over No. 19 California Baptist in their conference opener before exploding for a 21-5 victory over Concordia. Freshman Hal Goulter led the avalanche of goals for UC Davis, scoring seven times and adding a pair of assists in the two wins, while Nir Gross (six) and Ben Fleming (five) helped pave the way to victory. The 21 goals scored in the win over the Eagles marked the second-highest total for the Aggies this year, trailing only the school-record 26 scores against Mount St. Mary's back in the second match of the season, while the two wins gave UC Davis wins in each of its last nine WWPA contests and 34 of its last 35 league matches.

Danner's 6-over 222 tournament total was also a collegiate best, standing five shots better than her three-round total at the season-opening Badger Invitational, as the Sunnyvale, Calif., native birdied four of her final six holes en route to her career-best day.

Led by team captains Amanda Wilson and Rachel Pride, UC Davis also returns junior Dani Fasan, who won two individual events (50 breast, 100 free) and was a member of the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays, and junior Julie Kwan, who won twice (150 back and 300 IM), at the team's annual Blue-Gold Intrasquad meet on Oct. 2. Senior diving captain Taylor Hornberger and junior Sydney Wren lead the way for UC Davis on the boards, with Wren winning the 1-meter event and Hornberger winning on the 3-meter board at the Blue-Gold meet.

NEWS & NOTABLES: UC Davis looks to bounce back from its first loss of the season this weekend in front of a "Homecoming" crowd at UC Davis Health Stadium, welcoming Northern Colorado to Northern California for a 5 p.m. kick-off. The Aggies fell on the road, 27-17, to host Idaho State last week on a milestone day for junior running back Ulonzo Gilliam, Jr., who became only the third running back in school history to eclipse 3,000 career rushing yards on a 14-yard scamper in the first quarter, joining G.P. Muhammad (3,589) and Preston Jackson (3,325), and enters this week's contest with 3,056 career yards following an 18-carry, 100-yard performance against the Bengals — his 12th career 100-yard rushing performance. UC Davis is a combined 7-3 all time against Northern Colorado — including a 4-2 mark as a Division I program and 3-2 all time at home in the series — having won the last two meetings with the Bears: a 34-21 victory at home in 2016 and a 49-36 triumph on the road in 2018. In the last meeting, quarterback Jake Maier throwing for 380 yards and four touchdowns while Keelan Doss reeled 150 of those yards on 11 catches. The Aggies led 49-10 with 9:15 remaining in the fourth before Northern Colorado scored the final 26 points of the game in a seven-minute span to make it interesting.
