DAVIS, Calif. – A new version of a fan-favorite beer will launch on October 1st when Sudwerk Brewing Co. and UC Davis Athletics release Gunrock Hazy IPA to the public. In addition to a home delivery option, to-go orders of Sudwerk's take on America's most popular craft beer style (Hazy IPA) are available for local pickup by visiting the brewery's Dock Store, located at 2001 Second Street.
 
As was the case with previous Gunrock recipes, Yolo County's Nugget Markets and the Davis Food Co-Op will carry this unique offering, created by one of the craft beer industry's pioneers to meet public demand. Following its public release, numerous grocers and restaurants throughout Davis, and the Sacramento region, will serve Sudwerk's newest creation.

Brewed with the finest malts and hops, Gunrock Hazy IPA remains the only collegiate licensed beer in California, with a percentage of proceeds supporting UC Davis Athletics.
 
This year's Gunrock trademark beer is the latest milestone of a seven-year collaboration between Sudwerk (also home to globally esteemed UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education Brewing Program) and the fifth-ranked public university in the nation. Throughout this partnership, Sudwerk and UC Davis Athletics enjoyed successful launches for two previous beer brands — Aggie Lager and Gunrock Lager — that instantly created buzz among beer aficionados and sports fans alike.

Originally launched in 2016 and named after UC Davis' mascot — a Thoroughbred racehorse from the school's storied history when it was known as University Farm — Sudwerk's newest beer features choice hops from the West Coast and Southern Hemisphere that offer an appetizing aroma of pineapple and citrus, low bitterness, and a beautiful golden hue.
 
Now that Gunrock Hazy IPA is ready for widespread release, Sudwerk, Intercollegiate Athletics and the Cal Aggie Alumni Association will host a free virtual launch party, set for October 16th at 6 p.m.
 
During this virtual tasting, brewery co-owners Yackzan and Ryan Fry will share Sudwerk's history, its storied connection to the celebrated UC Davis Brewing Program, describe the brewing process and offer food pairing ideas. DeLuca will highlight key individuals and programs that led to the creation of Gunrock beer.
 
Following the tasting, all three speakers will participate in a Q&A session with event participants.
