Davis, Calif. - Equestrian's Oceana Haaland has been named the next Big West Conference representative on the NCAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Haaland's appointment will officially begin on June 1. She is the first national SAAC representative to represent the Big West from UC Davis and the 10th to represent the conference at that level.
In her role, Haaland will serve as a student voice in the NCAA and serve on committees that provide insight on the student-athlete experience and offer input on rules, regulations and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on campus.
SAACs exist at the campus, conference and national levels. Haaland previously served as the equestrian team's representative on UC Davis' SAAC.
Haaland maintained a 4.0 GPA during the Fall and Winter quarters and was named to the APHA National Collegiate Equestrian Association and Eastern College Athletic Conference Academic Honor Rolls in March.
She was also the NCEA's Signature Academics Standout Student-Athlete of the Month for March in recognition of her ability to fulfill her commitments as a student-athlete while also working on campus in the UC Davis Internship and Career Center and being the team scribe at home and away meets.
