DAVIS, Calif. — In a midweek matchup at the Marya Welch Tennis Center, the Aggies picked up a win over South Dakota, claiming the doubles point and the first four matches off for a 5-2 score.
Improving to 6-8 on the year, UC Davis won its second straight match at home in the program's first meeting against the Coyotes.
Starting in doubles, Kristina Evloeva and Yana Gurevich are now 6-3 together after yet another dominant performance on court three. The duo haven't lost more than two games in any set in their previous three matches.
Clinching the doubles point, Shirley Hall and Kristina Breisacher put up a 6-4 win at No. 2, with the match on court one going unfinished with the Aggies leading 5-4.
UC Davis continued to roll through singles play, led again by Gurevich at No. 4. Gurevich picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win, moving to 8-5 in dual play. Teammate Sara Tsukamoto put the Aggies up 3-0 after a win at the top of the singles lineup, also earning her eighth dual win of the year.
Evloeva clinched the victory for the Aggies with a win on court five, holding off her opponent in a tiebreaker in the first set en route to a two-set win, while Breisacher won her match after the clinch, 7-5, 6-3.
The Aggies will be back in action on the road, competing at Pacific to close winter quarter on Friday, Mar. 13, at noon.
