DAVIS, Calif. -- Sisters
Alyse Rojas and
Maddie Rojas each collected two hits while shortstop
Isabella Leon homered and drove in a pair of runs, but a late surge lifted Boise State to a 9-3 victory over UC Davis in Friday's finale of the NorCal Kickoff collegiate softball tournament at La Rue Field Friday afternoon.
The Aggies move to 2-1 for the year. The Broncos stay undefeated at 3-0 overall. The seven-team, 11-game tourney runs through Sunday.
Leon delivered a two-run shot that helped flip a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead in the third inning. Second baseman
Sommer Kisling and third baseman
Leah Polson also had hits for the day. Senior
Katie Kibby pitched the middle four innings of the contest in the loss after having relieved freshman starter
Taylor Fitzgerald to start the third.
BSU first baseman Alison Seng had five RBIs in the game against the Aggies, bringing her Friday total to eight when including her output against Santa Clara earlier in the afternoon. She knocked a two-run homer in the top of the third to give the Broncos their initial lead, then came up with a three-run triple in the sixth to highlight what ultimately became a 7-0 run during the final two frames.
UC Davis hosts Santa Clara at 2 p.m. for its only contest during Saturday's portion of the tourney. Complete coverage of the NorCal Kickoff is available at https://ucdavisaggies.com/sports/2020/1/29/sports-w-softbl-spec-rel-2020-norcal-kickoff.aspx.
