Long Beach State | Big West
DAVIS, Calif. — As one of the first teams to clinch a berth at this year's Big West Tournament, thanks to last week's results, UC Davis will enter a home-friendly final two weeks of the regular season, starting with Saturday's 5 p.m. matchup against Long Beach State.
Since the Aggies are competing for the best possible seed at this year's league playoffs, playing two of their final three games on Hamilton Court is a true advantage for a team that enjoys one of the strongest home court environments in the conference. Following this weekend's game, men's basketball will host Hawai'i in Thursday's 7 p.m. Senior Night tilt before ending the regular season on March 7 at UC Riverside.
In addition to a video stream available on BigWest.TV, Scott Marsh will call Saturday's game on Sports 1140 KHTK and its TuneIn Radio channel. Live stats, in-game Twitter updates and tickets links are also available by visiting Gameday Central.
Having won the first head-to-head meeting of the season in early January (the Ags' fourth win in the last five vs. LBSU), a victory on Saturday will give men's basketball its second series sweep in the last three years, extend the team's overall win streak versus the Beach to three games, and home streak to four.
With the right result, the Aggies will also post an undefeated home record in February. Saturday's contest is the first since they set a new single-game program-record by scoring 110 points when CSUN visited campus on Feb. 15.
As has been the case since Dec. 4 and Dec. 23, UC Davis has been the league's No. 1 team at the free throw line and from three, respectively. These are two strong advantages the Aggies possess compared to a Long Beach State team that is ranked No. 8 at the stripe (.683) and No. 3 from three (.358). UC Davis' respective shooting clips are .786 and .390.
The Aggies' scoring average is also seven points higher per game compared to LBSU's figure ; opponents also scored four fewer points per game against UC Davis compared to the Beach this season.
Series Record: UC Davis trails 22-9
Last Long Beach State Win: 1/12/19 — A, 82-77
Last UC Davis Win: 1/16/20 — A, 85-82
Series Streak: UC Davis +2
