Brookings, S.D. - UC Davis (2-6, 2-1) moved to 2-1 in the Eastern College Equestrian Conference standings on Saturday thanks to a 10-9 win over conference foe South Dakota State.
Ella Longo scored a career-high 83 and won her matchup by five points to earn Fences MOP while
Sabin Marquardt was close behind with an 82 to win her Fences matchup by three points.
Keely Laughlin's 70-68 win gave the Aggies a 3-2 Fences win overall.
One week after being named ECAC Fences Rider of the Week,
Sierra Gundersen led UC Davis to a Flat win with a 79-73 victory. Laughlin won her Flat matchup by an impressive 12 points and
Amber Ide closed out a 6-4 Jumping Seat win for the Aggies a 76 for a 1.5 point win.
Of the Aggies' six Jumping Seat points, three were won by freshmen.
In Horsemanship,
Bobbie Piddock drew with a score of 70 and
Malena Palmer won by a half point with a 70 while
Katie Flinn won by 1.5 points with a 71.5 to leave with a 2-2 draw with the Jack Rabbits.
Piddock came back to earn Reinin MOP with a 70 for a 1.5 point win. Though the Aggies dropped Reining 3-2, the outright win wound up hinging on Charllze Zuraek's 72-70 win as the fifth rider when South Dakota State's final rider was unable to better that score.
With just two regular season meets left this season, the Aggies will get two weeks to prepare for a Jumping Seat only meet with Lynchburg on March 6 and a conference date with SMU the next day on March 7.
