Davis, Calif. - The North Dakota State Bison proved to be too much for UC Davis on this particular day, as the Aggies fell 7-4 on Friday.
Freshman Kaden Riccomini (0-1) started and took the loss on the mound for UC Davis (3-3). Junior economics major Dexter Wilkerson was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going four shutout innings while allowing two hits, walking two and striking out four.
In the batter's box, the Aggies were paced by senior managerial economics major Logan Denholm, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Freshman applied physics major Mike Campagna put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-1 with two RBIs. Sophomore Jalen Smith also contributed for UC Davis, putting together one hit in four trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
Trailing 7-0, the Aggies first put runs on the board in the seventh inning. Denholm put UC Davis on the board with a leadoff home run off Zach Smith.
The Aggies kept the Bison off the board before narrowing the gap further in the eighth. UC Davis scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run single off the bat of Campagna, which tightened the Bison lead to 7-4. The Aggies were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
