Landess, Clagg lead Aggies to season-high score at USAFA

Landess posts career-high 39.250 all-around total for the meet win

USAFA, Colo. -- Junior Gabby Landess won the individual all-around with a career-best 39.250 while freshman Logan Clagg broke the 39-point barrier for the first time as an Aggie with her 39.125, leading UC Davis to a season-high team total of 195.475 in a women's collegiate gymnastics triangular at Cadet West Gym Saturday. The Aggies outdueled host Air Force, which scored 193.250, and visiting UW-Whitewater, which finished at 192.700.

UC Davis also scored a 49.150 on uneven bars in the opening rotation, tying the program's No. 3 score in history. The Aggies swept the top five spots in that event's individual standings as well: Clagg and Landess tied for first with 9.850 scores, Sarah Liddle and Cortney Cunningham tied for third with matching 9.825s, while Cammi Johnson added a 9.800.

Landess added 9.875 on beam, 9.800 on floor then 9.725 on vault to assemble her career high. 

Clagg tied teammate Cortney Cunningham for the event win on vault while sharing the floor title with Landess with that 9.800. In turn, Landess tied for second on beam with that 9.875, outdone only by Air Force's Amber Boll's 9.900.

UC Davis posted team event scores of 48.925 on beam, 48.600 on floor and 48.800 on vault to conclude its afternoon.

The Aggies return to action for a road quad at Boise State with Utah State and Boise State on Friday. Meet time is 6 p.m. Pacific.
