DAVIS, Calif. — Ezra Manjon recorded his fourth 20-point game of the season by finishing with that exact total, Damion Squire set a new career high by finishing with 15 points, Stefan Gonzalez finished in double figures for the fifth game in a row by posting 13, Rogers Printup ended his night with a season-high 12 points and Caleb Fuller completed a list of Aggie double-digit scorers by adding another 10 in UC Davis' 84-75 victory over UC Santa Barbara.

With Thursday's result at the Pavilion, the Aggies will enter Saturday's 5 p.m. home game vs. CSUN with a 11-15 overall and 5-5 league record. The Gauchos are off this weekend and will return to action next Thursday at 16-9 and 5-5 before facing UC Davis for the second time, in as many weeks, on Feb. 22.

As was the case last Saturday at Cal State Fullerton, UC Davis' opponent took an early lead when Max Heidegger broke a 2-2 tie with a three. After Printup pulled the Aggies even with a three of his own, a layup from Ezra Manjon gave UC Davis the lead until the final buzzer, which spanned the final 38:09 of the contest.

Led by Gonzalez and Fuller, the Aggies' bench dominated the Gauchos' reserves by a 28-6 margin, and their offensive aggressiveness paid off all night long since 34 points were scored in the paint — two shy of matching a season high.

The Aggies shot 56 percent overall (28-for-50), and showed a crowd of 2,237 why they are the No. 1 team in the conference at the free throw line by nailing 21 of 24 attempts (.875). By recording nine of his points at the line, Squire set another career-high and topped the previous season high of seven made free throws from Joe Mooney and Matt Neufeld, which took place against Long Beach State and VMI.

The Ags also entered the Pavilion as the top-shooting team from three, and will maintain that position entering Saturday's round of games by connecting on 7 of 15 (47 pct.) from distance.

UC Davis' defense also gave the Gauchos fits all night long, especially in the first half when UCSB shot 36 percent overall (9-for-25) and made only 2 of 11 shots from three (18 pct.). By comparison, the Ags hit half of their 30 shots from the floor and 4 of 9 from three (44 pct.) before halftime.

Playing a big role in the Aggies' victory was Kennedy Koehler, who held Amadou Sow to only 10 points and eight rebounds. In Sow's previous two games, he finished with a career-high 30 points and a double-double of 21 and 10 last weekend in a pair of wins against Hawai'i and UC Irvine. Even more impressive about Koehler's defensive performance against the current Big West Player of the Week was the fact that Sow only scored four points in the second half.

Twenty-seven of Heidegger's game-high 31 points were earned after halftime.

Thursday's result also snapped an unusual streak between these teams since the last five head-to-head matchups were won by the road team.

After defeating CSUN on its home floor during its inaugural Big West road trip of the season, UC Davis will seek a sweep of this week's games, and this year's head-to-head series on Saturday in the back-half of a home basketball doubleheader. The men's game will tip-off at 5 p.m. or 35 minutes after the women's game ends, whichever is later.
