Big Sky Conference announces football schedule

Aggies host Montana State, Eastern Washington and Weber State as part of a six-game spring slate

DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis football will participate in a six-game schedule – three at home, three on the road – as the Big Sky Conference announced its 2020-21 football slate Wednesday morning. Kickoff times and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.

The Aggies will host three contests at UC Davis Health Stadium: Montana State on February 27, Eastern Washington on March 13, and Weber State on April 10. The team will travel to Cal Poly for the annual Battle For The Golden Horseshoe on March 6, with back-to-back road games at Portland State (Mar. 27) and Idaho State (Apr. 3) later in the year.

"This spring football season certainly will be unique, and I am confident that all who care about our conference share in the sentiment that we cannot wait to watch our student-athletes and coaches compete for a Big Sky title and contend for the FCS championship," said Commissioner Tom Wistrcill, in the conference's official release. "This schedule provides consistency by utilizing much of the original fall 2020 slate, flexibility by allowing space for games to be rescheduled, and sensibility by prioritizing regional matchups that minimize travel and expenses."

The UC Davis athletics department will contact current season ticket-holders and Team Aggie members with more information.

Each Big Sky member team will play at least one home game and one road game in each half of the season. Furthermore, the March 20 and April 17 dates remain open on every team's schedule to provide an opportunity for rescheduling a postponed game due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

In September, the NCAA Division I Board of Directors approved a Football Championship Subdivision championship schedule. The bracket will consist of 16 teams, including 11 automatic qualifiers, with first-round playoff action beginning on Saturday, April 24. The championship game will take place on either May 15 or May 16 in Frisco, Texas.
