Aggies to honor Eason, All-American and author

Former All-Pro safety will join teammate Ken O'Brien on Aggie Pride Wall, host a book signing at The Avid Reader

DAVIS, Calif. -- The UC Davis football team will honor Cal Aggie Athletics Hall of Famer and NFL veteran Bo Eason as the second entry to its "Aggie Pride Wall" at UC Davis Health Stadium during the team's Big Sky Conference home game against Weber State on October 26.

Tickets for that game are available for purchase here or at the link above.

A 1983 All-American, an All-Pro safety for the Houston Oilers, an actor, and a motivational speaker, Eason recently added another credit to his body of work: author. His first book, entitled There's No Plan B For Your A-Game, went on sale at retailers Tuesday. Eason will host a book signing at The Avid Reader in downtown Davis on the eve of the Weber State game, on Friday, October 25, at 4 p.m. The town's largest independent bookseller, the Avid Reader is located at 617 2nd Street in downtown Davis.

Originally hailing from Delta High School in nearby Clarksburg, Eason starred for the Aggies from 1979 to 1983, serving as team captain in each of his last two seasons. He earned first-team All-Northern California Athletic Conference accolades in both 1982 and 1983, adding league Defensive Player of the Year honors as a senior. That final season also saw him garner Associated Press first-team All-America status, an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game and the school's Colby E. "Babe" Slater Award as the outstanding male athlete of the year.

The pro scouts took notice of the hard-hitting Eason, with the Houston Oilers selecting him in the second round (54th overall) in the 1984 NFL Draft. He played four seasons under the tutelage of Hugh Campbell and Jerry Glanville, and was even a teammate of another Aggie great, quarterback Mike Moroski. Eason enjoyed his best season in 1985: 16 starts, three interceptions, and a selection to the Newspaper Enterprise Association's All-Pro second team as a free safety.

After retiring from football, Eason entered the world of acting, earning more than a dozen television and movie credits. However, it was on stage where he turned out his most heralded work: touring more than 50 cities and earning rave reviews for his semi-autobiographical one-man play called Runt of the Litter.

Now in his third act, Eason speaks to and trains some of the most successful people in the world—athletes, artists, entrepreneurs, C-suite execs—on how to communicate for maximum impact and success. He has consulted for clients like Advisors Excel, Morgan Stanley, Dimensional Fund Advisors, Mass Mutual, Guardian, and Merrill Lynch.

Some 35 years after his graduation from UC Davis, Eason now puts his inspirational story on the page with the publication of his first book. There's No Plan B for Your A-Game focuses on a four-step process – Declaration, Preparation, Acceleration and Domination – to enable its readers to maximize success in all aspects of their lives. Eason's book is available through the website boeasonbook.com or via any bookseller, including the Avid Reader.

Eason becomes the second UC Davis football player to earn a spot on the Aggie Pride Wall, located on the press box at UC Davis Health Stadium. Ken O'Brien, Eason's teammate and co-captain on the Aggies' 1982 NCAA runner-up team, was the inaugural honoree in November 2017.
