DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis jumped out to an early lead in Friday's non-conference game at Aggie Soccer Field when redshirt freshman midfielder Leslie Fregoso scored in the sixth minute, junior midfielder Monet Kunz earned her first goal as an Aggie, and Casey Palmer also scored her third goal of the season in women's soccer's 3-1 blowout victory over Toledo.

UC Davis will now head to Tennessee for Wednesday's 4 p.m. PT matchup with a 4-2 record. Toledo will continue its Northern California road trip at 2-4.

The Aggies' aggressive mindset was on display from the opening whistle, and yielded the team's first goal six minutes into the match. A Toledo turnover that was created inside inside 18-yard box became the first goal of the afternoon when Fregoso beat the Rockets' goalkeeper to the near post, which set the tone for the match and gave UC Davis an early lead.

Of the team 19 shots, 14 took place before halftime, and included Kunz' first collegiate goal.

As was the case earlier in the game, this scoring opportunity originated from a Rockets turnover. And in a similar manner as its earlier goal, UC Davis operated with such precision that only a handful of seconds elapsed from that miscue to Kunz' strike.

It was Fregoso and junior midfielder Bryanna Duckett who set up Kunz goal on the counterattack; what started in the middle third of the field with a run down the near sideline continued with a pass across the box to Kunz, who scored on a one-timer to double her team's lead.

In the second half, the Aggies scored again on the counterattack, with Palmer connecting from just outside the penalty area to push UC Davis' lead to a comfortable three-goal margin.

Toledo's goal in the 83rd minute was its only highlight of the day as junior goalkeeper Nicki Rucki needed to make only one save — and barely moved from her original position to record that save — to help UC Davis win its fourth game of the year.

Last season, the Aggies did not collect their fourth victory until league play commenced.

Sophomore forward Casey Palmer singlehandedly registered a game-high five shots — a total that matched Toledo's entire roster. She was responsible for more than one-fourth of the Aggies' attempts, and posted three of her team's shots on goal.

Two of Kunz' three shots were on frame as seven other Aggies combined for the other 11 shots and eight shots on goal.
