DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis men's and women's tennis teams welcome tennis enthusiasts of all levels and abilities to take part in their 12th-annual "Pro-Am" fundraiser to be held on Saturday, Sept. 21 at the Marya Welch Tennis Center on campus.
A fun and invigorating day of tennis and socializing begins at 8 a.m., with bagels, coffee, and warm-ups before friends and supporters of the program serve as the "amateurs" taking on the "pro" student-athletes and members of the coaching staff at 9 a.m. Experience is not needed as everyone from those just learning the game, to seasoned tennis veterans, are invited to compete, with the chance to win prizes throughout the day.
A lunch then follows at 11:30 a.m. to cap off the day of competition and camaraderie.
The cost for the tournament and lunch is $100 per person, or lunch with the Aggies is just $25. Sponsorship opportunities include the tournament t-shirt ($200), a full tournament ($1,500) or court sponsorship ($350 or $750 for center court), or with a monetary donation of any amount.
Registration can be done online, at the link here, or for more questions about the event, please call (530) 754-7548 or email athleticsdevelopment@ucdavis.edu.

MARYA WELCH INITIATIVE
Named after the former physical education instructor, coach and Dean of Women who founded women's sports on the campus 25 years before the passage of Title IX, the Marya Welch Initiative for Women's Athletics provides comprehensive support for UC Davis' 16 athletics programs.
Through the support of the Marya Welch Initiative and its group members, student-athletes are provided the best possible opportunity to succeed inside the classroom, and in competition, through special project gifts and by increasing visibility and participation at women's events throughout the year.
All gifts to the Marya Welch Initiative are matched 1:1, doubling the impact on our women's programs.

Thanks to a collaboration of alumni, university resources, corporate partners, coaches and Student-Athlete Outcomes staff, all Aggies are guided over four years to acquire the skills, knowledge, opportunities and tools to better know and navigate the "World of Work" after graduating from UC Davis.
