DAVIS, Calif. — With the 2019 season officially in the books, members of the UC Davis baseball team will pack their bags for destinations across the country for summer league baseball assignments.
In total, 21 players will compete in eight different leagues, spanning across nine states, highlighted by junior-to-be
Tanner Murray, who picked up an assignment with the Orleans Firebirds of the prestigious Cape Cod League. Murray is believed to be only the sixth UC Davis baseball player to be invited to play in the Cape Cod League during the Division I era, and the first since Robert Garcia played for the Wareham Gatemen in 2016. Tino Lipson and Nick Lynch played for the Wareham Watchmen and the Brewster Whitcaps, respectively, in 2013, while Scott Lyman (Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox) and Ty Kelly (Brewster) also made their way East in 2009 and 2008, respectively.
Several Aggies will stay local for summer play, with
Steve Ouellette,
Ryan Rodriguez,
Jalen Smith, and
Wyatt Tucker listed on roster for the Humboldt Crabs of the Far West League. Additionally,
Conner Longrie and
Tim Wieser will make their way to Southern California competing for the Inland Valley Pirates and OC Riptide, respectively.
The trio of
Brett Erwin,
Nick Johnson, and
Jackson O'Boy will call "The Last Frontier" home for the summer, making the farthest trips of any Aggie to compete in the Alaska Baseball League. Johnson and O'Boy will don jerseys for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, while Erwin will be listed on roster for the Mat-su Miners.
A full listing of this year's summer league assignments is listed below (alphabetical order by league).
