Aggies split against Boise State and Pacific in Folsom

FOLSOM, Calif. -- The tandem of freshman Josephine Ough and sophomore Paloma Bowman won both of its matches to highlight UC Davis' split against Boise State and Pacific in women's collegiate beach volleyball action at Livermore Community Park Saturday. The Aggies lost to the Broncos by a 4-1 team score in the morning, then beat the Tigers by the same tally in the afternoon match.

UC Davis beach moves to 6-8 in its inaugural season. Boise State improves to 10-5 overall. Pacific remains winless at 0-9 for the year.

Ough and Bowman defeated Boise's No. 3 tandem of Jensen Allen and Ellie McDonald in straight sets, 22-20 and 21-19; then moved up to the No. 2 court for their victory against Pacific's Kennedy Kaminsky and Lucy Carpenter, sweeping by scores of 21-15 and 21-10.

UC Davis also enjoyed 2-0 match victories from Lauren Matias and Jane Seslar at No. 1, and Nicole Andrade and Ally Reyes at No. 5 against the Tigers. The No. 3 pairing of Heather Reed and Savanah Schroeder scored a split-set victory over Pacific's Hanna De Schrijver and Lauren Cline, winning 21-16 in the opener, falling to a 21-10 loss in the second, then running away with a 15-5 triumph in the deciding frame.

The Ough-Bowman team is now 5-5 on the year, with only Matias-Seslar (6-8) having won more matches.

The Picnic Day slate, which also includes a student-athlete alumni reunion out at the beach courts, begins with a 9:30 a.m. neutral match between Oregon and Pacific, followed by the UC Davis-Pacific dual at 12:30 p.m.
