Aggies hit 6-for-6 in NCAA second-round

CORVALLIS, Ore. -- Senior Yasmine Yektaparast and sophomore Kelley Hebert each hit 9.850 on balance beam for UC Davis' highest scores during Friday's second-round action of the NCAA Corvallis Region women's gymnastics meet at Gill Coliseum.

The Aggie trio of Yektaparast, Hebert and sophomore Alyssa Ito each qualified to the meet as at-large entrants: Hebert in the all-around, Ito and Yektaparast as event specialists.

UC Davis' two-year co-captain, Yektaparast traveled through the meet with No. 4-seeded Florida during Friday's evening session. Her 9.850 on beam marks her 10th score of 9.8 or better this season for that event, and her highest mark for the apparatus since hitting 9.875 in the team's home opener back on January 27. Yektaparast wraps up her career with 41 scores of 9.8-plus between her beam and floor exercise routines. She finished in a tie for 12th during the evening portion of the meet, and T19th for the entire combined second round.

Hebert, paired with Southern Utah in the afternoon session, compiled a 39.000 in the all-around -- her eighth 39-point meet of the 2019 season,  during which she earned her second consecutive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Year award. Hebert scored a 9.600 on uneven bars to open the meet, delivered the 9.850 on balance beam, then hit 9.825 on floor exercise and 9.725 on vault in the session's second half.

Ito, who rotated through the meet with Denver, scored a 9.825 on balance beam for a share of 14th place in Friday's first session. She entered the meet tied for second in the MPSF on that apparatus with a 9.840 national-qualifying score. Ito finished the 2019 season with eight straight scores of 9.8 or higher on beam.

Friday's regional action finished up a 2019 season in which UC Davis won the MPSF regular-season title, ranked 39th nationally with a 195.265 NQS, had eight gymnasts win 16 total All-MPSF awards, and claimed three of the four conference year-end major accolades.
