Josephine Ough and
Paloma Bowman and the No. 5 team of
Nicole Andrade and
Ally Reyes each won their respective matches in straight sets, leading UC Davis to a 4-1 victory over host Sacramento State in collegiate women's beach volleyball action at Livermore Park Friday night.
The Aggies improve to 5-7 overall, with a 4-0 record against their Causeway Cup rivals in their inaugural season.
Ough/Bowman dispatched the Hornet duo of McKenna Smith and Macey Hayden by scores of 21-16 and 21-17, while Andrade/Reyes took down Cianna Andrews and Hanna Chase, 21-14, 23-21.
UC Davis' No. 2 team of
Savanah Schroeder and
Heather Reed claimed a split-set victory of 21-15, 13-21, 15-11 win over Sacramento State's Skyler Takeda and Ashtin Olin. Â
Demari Webb and
Rose Holscher also went the distance in their win at No. 4, defeating Paige Calvin and Kayla Subbert by a final of 21-16, 14-21, 16-14.
The Hornets' lone win came at No. 1: Mikaela Nocetti and Sarah Davis outlasted
Jane Seslar and
Lauren Matias, marking Sac State's first series win on the No. 1 court this year.
UC Davis faces Boise State (10 a.m.) and Pacific (1 p.m.) in neutral-site action Saturday, completing a four-team round robin at Livemore Park this weekend.Â
