DAVIS, Calif. — As UC Davis women's basketball prepares to make their mark on the court in the postseason, senior Solie Laughlin will look to do the same in the pool this week, traveling to Austin, Tex., to compete at the 2019 NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships hosted at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

Laughlin continues a run that has seen the Aggies' program qualify at least one swimmer for the NCAA Championship meet for the eighth time in the program's 12 seasons at the Division I level.

Preliminary heats begin at 7 a.m. (PT) each day, with the finals following at 3 p.m. (PT). Standing among a field of 281 swimmers from across the country, Laughlin opens competition on Thursday (Mar. 21) with the prelims of the 200 IM, followed by Friday's competition in the 400 IM, and Saturday's race in the 200 back. In all, Laughlin set five NCAA "B" standard marks this season—including three at the conference meet—while successfully defending her Mountain Pacific Sports Federation titles in the 400 IM and 200 back.

Earning a total of five All-MPSF awards by virtue of her finishes at the conference finale last month, Laughlin is ranked No. 29 among the field in the 200 back after setting a school and meet record with her qualifying time of 1:53.45 en route to her fourth title in the event in as many seasons. She also ranks No. 43 among the field in the 400 IM after defending her crown for the fourth straight season in the championship final with a winning time of 4:11.66.

After exhibitioning the event in previous years, the Ventura, Calif.-native also secured her first ever title in the 200 IM with a career-best time of 1:59.44 to rank second on the all-time top 10 list and turned in the top four times in that event this season. She ranks No. 81 in the field for that event at the NCAA Championships.

Laughlin made her official debut on the NCAA stage two seasons ago when she qualified in three events, finishing 30th in the 400 IM (4:11.85), 39th in the 200 back (1:54.60), and 52nd in the 200 IM (2:00.25) in Indianapolis, Ind., at the IU Natatorium.

ESPN3 will stream the championships finals sessions live on Wednesday and Thursday, while ESPNU will stream Friday's and Saturday's finals sessions. Preliminary heats will also be streamed live at https://texassports.com/watch/.
