Big West
DAVIS, Calif. – A season-ending four-game homestand will continue on Saturday when UC Davis hosts Cal State Fullerton in a Big West contest that will begin at 7 p.m. In this matchup, the Aggies will look to bounce back from Thursday night's result against a Titan team they faced last week.
In last week's game at Titan Gym, senior guard
Siler Schneider scored a season-high 27 points on 11 of 15 shooting, junior guard
Stefan Gonzalez recorded 10 points, which included two baskets from three, and junior guard
Joe Mooney led everyone that night with nine rebounds in a game that went down to the wire.
That evening, eight lead changes took place throughout the second half in a game that saw CSF escape with a narrow four-point win.
This week, it is the Titans' turn to hit the road since their trip to Davis, a familiar one to a member of the Fullerton's coaching staff, is the team's penultimate game of the season.
Now in his sixth season as head coach, Dedrique Taylor was a former Aggie basketball student-athlete who graduated in 1997. His team will square off against a squad featuring another Aggie alum in associate head coach
Kevin Nosek, a 1999 graduate who was a member of UC Davis' national championship team.
Since UC Irvine locked up the No. 1 seed at the Big West Tournament, both UC Davis and Cal State Fullerton are jockeying for the highest possible seed and best potential matchups from now through next Saturday's respective regular season finale.
UC Davis fans should keep an eye on this Titan quartet, one comprised by Khalil Ahmad, Kyle Allman, Jr., Jackson Rowe and Austen Awosika, since they are responsible for 794 of the team's 1,022 points (78 pct.) throughout league play.
Of the last seven games played on Hamilton Court between these teams, UC Davis emerged victorious on five occasions — another example of why the Aggies are one of the, if not the toughest Big West team to face on their home floor. Since the 2014-15 season, no league team holds a higher home win percentage than UC Davis.
Series Record: UC Davis trails 21-16
Last UC Davis Win: 3/10/17 - N, 66-64 (OT)
Last Cal State Fullerton Win: 2/21/19 - A, 62-58
Series Streak: Cal State Fullerton +4
