FULLERTON, Calif. – Senior communication major Siler Schneider exploded for a season-high 27 points, on 11 of 15 shooting, junior communication major Stefan Gonzalez added another 10 by hitting two of his four shots from three, and junior economics major Joe Mooney led all players with nine rebounds, a new career mark, in Thursday's Big West Conference game in Fullerton, at Titan Gym.

During a wild second half, which featured eight lead changes, the Titans scored four of the game's final six points, over the last two minutes and 33 seconds, which ultimately turned their one-point lead into a 62-58 victory over the Aggies.

"I told the team after the game that I appreciated how they battled. They fought, and scratched, and clawed to give themselves a chance to win down the stretch," said head coach Jim Les. "I cannot fault their belief that we could come in here and win."

UC Davis will head to CSUN for Saturday's 7 p.m. matchup, broadcast on ESPN3, with a 10-15 overall and 6-5 league record. By winning its ninth game out of its last 10, Cal State Fullerton snapped the Aggies' five-game win streak, and pushed its records to 13-13 and 9-3.

Following a low scoring first half — UC Davis trailed 27-22 at halftime — it matched that point total 7:41 into the second half, and trailed the Titans by one.

Cal State Fullerton held that slim lead after watching the Aggies open the second half by scoring seven unanswered to take a 29-27 lead, thanks to a Gonzalez three, which forced CSF to call a timeout less than two minutes after play resumed.

Led by Schneider and Gonzalez, all eight Aggies that saw action scored; collectively, they also held Cal State Fullerton 11 points under its scoring average. UC Davis' defense also limited Kyle Allman Jr. the Titans' top scorer to a season-low five points; he entered Thursday's game averaging 18.5 ppg and scored 20 or more in six of the last nine games.

"Our defense kept us in the game. I told them at halftime that, if we could keep them at 33 percent shooting again in the second half, we will give ourselves a chance to win. We made up that (halftime) deficit pretty quick; we were scoring at a pretty quick clip, we were just giving up baskets at a similar clip," Les added.

Les also added, following his team's early second half run, that "we would have liked to have a six, seven, or eight-point cushion as we were getting hot. But every time we scored, it seemed like they answered by scoring."

But in this back-and-forth battle, Cal State Fullerton that was able to built a late, yet slim two-point cushion in the first of two head-to-head games taking place in as many weeks.

Cal State Fullerton will head to Davis next Saturday (March 2) for the return game.
