NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Junior communication major Stefan Gonzalez posted his first 20-point game as an Aggie in Saturday's ESPN3 broadcast at CSUN, and led the team with 23 points and nine rebounds, both new career highs.

Facing one another for the second time in as many weeks, 10 tied scores and 11 lead changes took place throughout a wild Big West Conference game inside the Matadome involving CSUN and UC Davis, one that saw the visiting Aggies erase a four-point deficit in the final 2:07 to force overtime.

A three from senior communication Siler Schneider chopped CSUN's four-point lead to one with 1:35 remaining; Schneider also answered back-to-back Matador free throws with a driving layup, which pulled UC Davis within one point, and 21 seconds still left to play.

Since the fourth-year guard was fouled on the play, his ensuing free throw tied the game at 64 apiece, and forced another five minutes of action since the Aggies' trademark defense did not allow a clean look for the Matadors on the final play of regulation — a fadeaway desperation baseline heave, from 18 feet away, that hit the side of the iron.

Thanks to deep threes from Terrell Gomez on his team's first two OT possessions, CSUN held an early six-point lead, one the Aggies whittled down to two with 2:38 remaining.

Four unanswered points from the Matadors' Lamine Diane pushed that lead back to six points; undaunted, UC Davis dropped that back to a one-possession margin thanks to a three from Gonzalez, and back to three again after he hit two free throws following another CSUN bucket.

By continuing to hit their free throws — of its 15 made shots at the line throughout the game, five were recorded in OT — CSUN withstood UC Davis' rally and defeated the Aggies for the first time since January 9, 2014, in a game that also took place in Northridge.

From that 2014 matchup until Saturday night, UC Davis won 11 straight head-to-head games versus the Matadors.

The Aggies will now return home for their final four games of the season, starting with Thursday's contest vs. UC Irvine, a game ESPNU will televise across the nation starting at 8 p.m. UC Davis will enter that game with a 10-6 overall and 6-6 Big West record.

CSUN will continue its season at 11-17 at 5-7 respectively.

In addition to snapping its five-year win streak against CSUN, Saturday's game also snapped a different kind of streak for UC Davis since it won all five games this season that featured four of more players who scored 10 points. Against the Matadors, Joe Mooney and junior communication major Matt Neufeld each finished with 15, with Schneider adding another 13.

Lamine Diane and Terrell Gomez, the Big West's top two led their team with 35 points (in addition to a team-high 11 rebounds) and 20 points respectively.
