Big West
DAVIS, Calif. – Something has to give when UC Davis faces Cal State Fullerton in Thursday's Big West matchup inside Titan Gym. UC Davis, a team that won its last three road games in a row and will head to Orange County on a five-game win streak, will face a Titans squad that is 7-2 at home this season, won three straight and eight of their last nine played.
Since Cal State Fullerton is hosting a basketball doubleheader Thursday night, the Aggies' game will begin at 7:30 p.m. or 35 minutes after the preceding women's game (tips at 5 p.m.) concludes, whichever is later.
A live video stream of this matchup, the first of two in as many weeks featuring these teams, is available at BigWest.TV. UC Davis basketball fans can listen to Scott Marsh's call on 1380 AM KTKZ, or on TuneIn internet radio by searching for KTKZ.
These teams will square off once against next Saturday (March 2) when the Titans visit the Pavilion.
In addition to video and audio options, in-game Twitter and live stats links are also available at Gameday Central on UCDavisAggies.com.
Thursday's game will feature the Big West's last two NCAA Tournament representatives, a series that has turned into one of the fiercest league rivalries in recent seasons.
It was Cal State Fullerton the Aggies defeated in an instant classic at the 2017 Big West Tournament — one UC Davis won at the buzzer in double overtime, which propelled it to the program's first appearance in the Big Dance thanks to a victory in the following night's championship game against UC Irvine.
One year later, the roles were reversed when Cal State Fullerton defeated the Aggies, and followed that result with a win of its own over UC Irvine in the final game of the tournament.
Cal State Fullerton's offense, which leads the league with a .476 field goal percentage throughout conference play, will face UC Davis' suffocating defense — a unit that is limiting conference opponents to 67.8 ppg, and held three straight potent offenses to less that 60 points, in their respective matchups, the last few weeks.
Series Record: UC Davis trails 20-16
Last UC Davis Win: 3/10/17 - N, 66-64 (OT)
Last Cal State Fullerton Win: 3/9/18 - N, 55-52
Series Streak: Cal State Fullerton +3
