DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis equestrian team will make its way to The Lone Star State for the second week in a row for a pair of road meets at No. 8 TCU and No. 4 SMU. UC Davis is slated to square off against the Horned Frogs on Thursday (Feb. 21) at 10 a.m. CST, followed by a quick turnaround before facing United Equestrian Conference colleague No. 4 SMU on Friday (Feb. 22) at 10 a.m. CST. 

ABOUT TCU
The Horned Frogs will enter Thursday's meet against the Aggies with an even 4-4 mark on the season and a 2-1 home record at Turning Point Ranch… TCU opened its 2018-19 campaign with a pair of back-to-back wins over Texas Tech (14-1) and Delaware State (15-4)… Suffered their first loss of the season to Texas A&M, 8-9 (Oct. 5)… TCU is 1-1 against Big 12 Conference opponents after falling to Baylor, 8-10, on Oct. 27 and besting Oklahoma State, 11-9, on Nov. 2… Also posted wins over Sweet Briar (8-2) and Lynchburg (7-1)… Currently riding a two-meet winning streak after downing South Dakota State and Minnesota-Crookston, 13-6, and, 14-2, respectively… The Horned Frogs are slated to square off against Oklahoma State and Baylor once more before competing at Big 12 Championships on Mar. 29-30.

ABOUT SMU
The No. 4 Mustangs got off to a strong start in 2018-19, stringing together six consecutive wins—including a 9-8 win at South Carolina and an 11-8 victory over Georgia—before their streak came to an end on the road at Texas A&M with a close, 9-11, loss… The Mustangs are undefeated against United Equestrian Conference opponents following a 15-5 win over Fresno State (Oct. 27) and an 8-6 road win against Delaware State (Nov. 16)… The Mustangs' second loss of the season came earlier this month, falling 7-13 in a road meet at Oklahoma State… SMU is also slated to face Auburn and TCU before competing at UEC Championships on Mar 22-23.

AGGIE DUO CAPTURES UEC WEEKLY HONORS - 2/19
Senior genetics and genomics major Laurel Jackson (Reining) and junior animal science major Sabin Marquardt (Equitation Over Fences) picked up their first career United Equestrian Conference Rider of the Week accolades after the duo collected both Aggie points scored against No. 4 Texas A&M… Jackson (1-0) earned the Aggies' lone Reining point against No. 4 Texas A&M when she defeated Marissa Harrell—who entered Saturday's meet with a 5-1 record--with a team-high score of 67.5 on the road at the Hildebrand Equine Complex… Marquardt (2-0) also collected the only UC Davis point in Equitation Over Fences, defeating Rhian Murphy, 82-75. Earlier this season, Marquardt came out on top in the Aggies' first-ever home meet against Delaware State, edging Zoe Kirsch, 80-79.
