DAVIS, CA -- Seniors Sophia Song and Katie Toole finished with a team-high 13 points each, while junior Cierra Hall added 10 points and eight boards, but a 9-0 Portland State run to start the fourth quarter broke open a one-point game and the Vikings held off UC Davis for a 76-70 victory on Saturday afternoon at The Pavilion.

UC Davis' overall record moved to 2-5 with the defeat.

Song's 13 points were a season high and fell just two points shy of her career high set at San Francisco last season, while Hall set a season high on the glass, adding two blocks and four steals. Toole finished in double figures for the seventh consecutive contest to start the season.

The UC Davis offense was productive from deep, pouring in 11 threes on 28 attempts. Song was the most prolific shooter for the Aggies, draining four treys in the contest.

The UC Davis defense held Portland State shooters to just 36.9% from the field. The Aggies also kept Jordan Stotler to 3-of-13 shooting in the game.

After falling behind 11-9, UC Davis went on a 7-0 run with 6:03 left in the first quarter, culminating in a bucket from sophomore environmental science and management major Sage Stobbart, to take a 16-11 lead. The Aggies then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 24-22 advantage. UC Davis relied on its three-point shooting in the period, knocking down five shots to account for 15 of its 24 points.

The Aggies maintained their lead in the game's second frame and entered halftime with a 42-40 edge. UC Davis saw non-starters score five of its 18 total points off the bench in the quarter.

UC Davis then lost its advantage in the third quarter and trailed the Vikings 59-58 entering the fourth. UC Davis played well near the basket, scoring eight of its 16 points in the paint.

Portland State kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 70-63 advantage before UC Davis went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Hall's jumper, to shrink the deficit to 70-68 with 2:46 to go in the contest. Portland State responded and outscored the Aggies the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 76-70. UC Davis fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down two shots to account for six of its 12 points.

The Aggies are back in action on Thursday (Dec. 5), when they'll host Boston University at 6 p.m.
