Aggie football announces its All-Decade team

Expert panel selects best UC Davis players at 27 positions from 2010-19

With the 2019 season winding to a close, UC Davis football continues a tradition sustained by beloved assistant coach Fred Arp, as an "All-Decade Team" was selected by a panel of coaches, staff and media members – each of whom covered the Aggies for all or most of the years 2010 through 2019. 

The votes have been tabulated, with the following players leading the way at their respective positions:


ALL-DECADE OFFENSE

OT - Ian Joseph (2011-14): Four-year starter and two-time All-Big Sky Conference honoree, including a first-team nod as a senior.

OG - Sean Davies (2009-12): Triple All-American as a senior, team's Outstanding Lineman selection in 2011, who claimed first-team accolades in both the Great West and Big Sky Conference.

C - Ray Wilburn (2009-12): Three-time all-league pick, including back-to-back first-team selections in the Great West Conference; earned team's Outstanding Lineman award in 2012. 

OG - Jake Parks (2018-Present): 2018 Freshman All-American by both HERO Sports and Phil Steele, has started 24 straight games entering his sophomore season finale.

OT - Christian Schneider (2013-16): 2017 All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention and All-Academic winner who later signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Browns

TE - Wes Preece (2016-19): Academic All-District and FCS ADA Academic All-Star who won two All-Big Sky Conference nods and set a school record for receiving touchdowns by a tight end.

QB - Jake Maier (2017-19): Three-time Walter Payton Award nominee, 2018 Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year and 2019 Slater Award winner who finishes as the program's career leader in passing attempts, completions and yards.

RB - Ulonzo Gilliam, Jr. (2018-Present): Program's first-ever Jerry Rice Award nominee and 2018 Freshman All-American by both HERO Sports and Phil Steele, who enters Saturday's finale with 2,164 career rushing yards despite being just a sophomore.

FB - Dalton Turay (2012-14): Three-time All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention and 2014 recipient of the team's Bob Foster Aggie Pride Award

WR - Keelan Doss (2014, '16-18): Current Oakland Raider who won a total of 13 All-America awards in his final two seasons, plus 2017 Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Year and two Jerry Norris Awards, and finished his career with school records of 321 receptions and 4,069 receiving yards.

WR - Tom Hemmingsen (2010-11, '13): 2011 All-Great West Conference first-team pick and 2012 All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention, won program's inaugural Ken O'Brien Outstanding Offensive Player award.

WR - Sean Creadick (2007-10): Hauled in 66 catches to earn first-team All-Great West Conference honors in his only season during this decade.


ALL-DECADE DEFENSE

DE - Bobby Erskine (2009-12): Won team's Jerry Norris Award and All-Great West Conference first team in 2011, thanks to team-leading 9.5 tackles for losses.

DE - Anthony Baumgart (2015-18): Three-year starter who totaled 131 tackles, 18.0 TFLs and nine sacks during final three seasons.

DT - Inoke Raikadroka (2013-16): Captured second-team All-Big Sky Conference and team's Casey Merrill Award (outstanding defensive player) in 2016.

DT - Andrew Benjamin (2009-12): Earned All-Great West (2010, 2011) and All-Big Sky Conference (2012) honorable mention, with 22.0 career TFLs.

SLB - Mason Moe (2017-18): Set school record of 20.5 TFLs (including 10.5 sacks) to earn second-team All-Big Sky Conference and team's Casey Merrill Award in 2018, then earned invite to the Philadephia Eagles rookie minicamp the following spring.

MLB - Jordan Glass (2010-12): Last linebacker to win team's Jerry Norris Award, earned second-team acclaim in each of the Big Sky Conference and Great West Conference.

WLB - Byron Gruendl (2009-12): Three-year all-conference honoree, including second-team distinction All-Great West as a junior, ranks sixth in school history with 225 total tackles.

CB - Vincent White (2015-18): Two-time All-Big Sky selection who ranked among national leaders in pass breakups, eventually earning an invite to the Denver Broncos minicamp. 

CB - Jonathan Perkins (2010-13): Earned four all-conference selections between the Big Sky and Great West, while also ranking fourth in school history in kickoff return average.

S - Charles Boyett (2011-14): Captured All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention in each of final two seasons, leading Aggies with 86 total tackles in 2013, then snaring team's Casey Merrill Award in 2014.

S - Kevyn Lewis (2009-12): Earned first-team All-Great West Conference acclaim in 2011 and forced two fumbles in four games as a senior before injury ended his career.

ALL-DECADE SPECIAL TEAMS

K - Brady Stuart (2012-15): Became first kicker in school history to capture team's Jerry Norris Award, made back-to-back All-Big Sky squads, and holds school records for career scoring (274) and field goals (51).

LS - John Aloma (2018-Present): Won 2018 Jim Ferrier Award for outstanding transfer, becoming just the second long snapper (after Nathaniel Hackett) to claim a year-end team award.

P - Colton Schmidt (2009-12): Three-time all-conference honoree and 2012 Phil Steele All-American set school season and career punting records before enjoying a five-year stint with the Buffalo Bills

Returner - Shamawn Wright (2012-15): All-Big Sky Conference honorable mention held school record for kickoff return average before Namane Modise broke it three years later.
