Volgin sets fall singles win record at Husky Invite

SEATTLE, Wash. — Concluding the fall tournament slate, UC Davis finished day three at the Husky Invitational undefeated in both singles and doubles.

Ivan Thamma and Brett Brinkman opened the day with a tiebreak win over Jack Pulliam and Kailuhia Lam of UW, 8-7(6). Thamma/Brinkman are now 2-1 on the year together.

In the second doubles match, Andrei Volgin and Arjith Jayaraman posted their third win of the weekend, and a team-high ninth total. The Aggie duo defeated Washington's Alexis Alvarez and Lam, 8-6.

Volgin was the only Aggie in singles play, winning in straight sets over Portland State's Nikola Dimitrijevic, 6-2, 6-1. With Sunday's win, Volgin set the Division I program record for highest number of tournament singles match wins at 14 total.

The Aggies conclude fall play, and will resume action in the dual part of the season in January 2020.
