DAVIS, Calif. – The Art of Athletes, which features over 35 exhibits from 19 student-athletes, will return to the Walter A. Buehler Alumni Center (located on UC Davis' main campus) for a two-week run, starting on Friday, Feb. 1.

Admission to this art showcase, co-coordinated by field hockey student-athletes Nica Taglieri and Chelsea Bigelow, is free and open to the public.

As part of the opening night's events, the public is invited to meet the student-athlete artists between 5-7 p.m. on Friday and enjoy complimentary refreshments. Parking for Friday's reception, and the two-week-long exhibit, is available at the Mondavi Center Garage, located across the street from the Alumni Center.

Friday's festivities will also provide patrons with the opportunity to hear men's soccer student-athlete Wallis Lapsley play the mandolin for part of the reception, and an opportunity for everyone to meet and chat with Brandon Tucker, a 2010 graduate who created this event while playing football at UC Davis.

From Feb. 2-15, the gallery is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. throughout the weekend.

The Art of Athletes has been a highlighted event each year, showcasing the non-athletic talents of UC Davis student-athletes. Past exhibits have featured paintings, sculptures, photography and other impressive works of art.
