Game Notes: UC Davis  |  Cal Poly  |  Big West

DAVIS, Calif. – The Aggies' inaugural Big West homestand will conclude on Saturday when Cal Poly visits the Pavilion for a 5 p.m. contest.

As a way of thanking those who protect their communities, UC Davis is providing free tickets to  all fire and law enforcement personnel, including EMTs and first responders for Saturday's home basketball doubleheader. Individuals can receive complimentary tickets by showing their badge or ID at the Pavilion's box office on game day.

In addition to a live stream on BigWest.TV, 1380 AM KTKZ will provide a live broadcast of this league game. All links, including ones for live stats and in-game Twitter updates, are available on UCDavisAggies.com.

After falling to UCSB in its first Big West home game of the season on Thursday, UC Davis will look to bounce back against a well-rested Cal Poly squad that will travel to Davis for its only game of the week.

Last week, the Mustangs lost their league opener at UC Santa Barbara, 65-56, before falling at home to CSUN, in overtime, by a 78-74 score.

Even though Cal Poly leads the all-time series 35-23, UC Davis has fared well against the Mustangs in recent seasons. The Aggies have won their last three straight versus CP, the last five played on Hamilton Court and nine of the last 11 overall.

When these teams last met, senior guard TJ Shorts II became the second Aggie in the program's Big West era to record a triple-double as UC Davis came-from-behind to win a grueling 92-84 triple-overtime battle in San Luis Obispo.

Joining UC Davis basketball as its honorary captains for Saturday's BWC contest are Kameron and Josh Fox. With the support of his parents, the staff at UC Davis Children's Hospital, and especially his brother Josh, Kameron successfully battled Hodgkin's Lymphoma and is now cancer free.

As UC Davis Children's Hospital's Team Champions, the men's basketball program is honored to have the Fox family join it this weekend.

Basketball fans can also team up with Golden 1 Credit Union to help fight student hunger by simply donating canned food or non-perishable food items. By doing so, each fan will receive two raffle tickets for various prizes, which includes an Apple Watch. Prize winners will be announced at halftime.
